We are thrilled to announce that OJC will have the pleasure of hosting artist, Samer Hatam, as our Artist in Residence (AIR) for 2019. The purpose of our AIR is to expose our learners to the full scope of artistic practices.

Mr Hatam was born and trained in Iraq as an artist and printmaker. He has lived and worked locally in East Auckland since moving to New Zealand. With a Master of Fine Arts degree from Elam School of Fine Arts, University of Auckland, Mr Hatam has been exhibiting his work and illustration artworks both locally and internationally for many years.

For the AIR programme at OJC, Mr Hatam will work on site and host workshops on illustration and book publishing. As part of an exciting Passion Project led by Learning Coaches Jenny and Ms Huang, there will be a book launch and and an exhibition with the learners involved.
