Jen Woo | Learning Coach

Ormiston Junior College —

Kia ora, annyeonghaseyo! My name is Jen, born in South Korea raised in Aotearoa. Seoul is where I was born, but most of my childhood memories are from what I call, my NZ hometown, Howick.

I left Howick to study music and theatre in Wellington and came back to my NZ hometown after 4 years to work as a violin teacher at Howick School of Music. This is when I truly discovered a passion for teaching and decided to become a classroom teacher, so I have spent one more year at University to complete secondary teaching diploma at the University of Auckland. I started my exciting journey as a learning coach at OJC in 2018.

I am a huge musical production and opera fan - Aladdin, The Lion King, The Phantom of the Opera and Bizet’s Carmen are some of my all-time favourites. At OJC, I am passionate to keep developing our wonderful music groups to further develop opportunities for anyone who loves music. I also love visiting places with beautiful sceneries in Aotearoa - especially during summertime! Visiting gardens, day hikes, and beaches are my favourite things to do when the sun is out.

I am thrilled to be a part of the OJC whanau and I can’t wait to build relationships with learners (especially new learners) to be fully immersed in OJC’s innovative environment.
