Ormiston Junior College —

I find OJC’s holistic approach of teaching the whole child and their needs refreshing.

I am a ‘veteran’ teacher who is new to Ormiston Junior College. I have been teaching at Epsom Normal Primary school for the last 7 years, prior to that, Maungawhau Primary School and Weymouth Intermediate School.

I was fortunate to have 10 years as a stay at home mother, where I fulfilled my passion for education differently by designing and running an education programme for young mothers.

I find OJC’s holistic approach of teaching the whole child and their needs refreshing. As a teacher I believe that learning is not isolated. I believe that learning takes place anywhere and in all situations, which is why I am so excited about the opportunities that TAIP at OJC provides. I am particularly passionate about literacy, visual and creative arts.

I am married with 3 beautiful children (Samuel 21, Annabelle 18 and Benjamin 14) and 1 cat (Pumba). As a creative, I am always cooking and creating around home. I love exploring New Zealand but have progressed from camping in my childhood and early years of marriage to staying in baches and motels now. There is nothing better than discovering one of New Zealand’s hidden gems and using my photos in literacy as writing inspiration.
