Sylvie Huang | Learning Designer
Having a fine arts background, I find my passions in communicating and interacting with others through art.
I hold a Master's Degree in Fine Arts from the University of Auckland, where I paired the creation of art to learning, through trial and error. I am an advocate for equipping learners with critical thinking and empowering them with the means for innovation.
My experience of teaching in the classroom started in France where I worked as a high school English teaching assistant. I was blessed with the richness of culture, art, and socio-political affairs that were inseparable from education.
With further experience in working with international learners at Unitec, I was inspired to drive impact and work in the secondary sector. Prior to OJC, I taught at Paraparaumu College and ACG Parnell College where I focussed on developing goal-achieving, confident youngsters through practical, relevant, and personalised learning experiences, in the fields of Art, Digital Photography, Thinking Skills and ICT.
My parents saw the promise of excellence in New Zealand and emigrated from Taiwan in hope of a better educational outcome for their children. And now I cannot be happier to be in a position where I can contribute to the learning whanau at Ormiston.
I live locally in East Auckland with a young family and I am excited to be able to connect and grow with the community.
