Student Leadership Day at MHJC
Reflections on the day from one of our own student leaders, Bilal...
On Wednesday 19th September the OJC student leaders ventured off to Mission Heights Junior College for their annual leaders convention. After arriving and taking advantage of the free refreshments, they were greeted by two of the Mission Heights Junior College students leaders and were then split off into five groups made up of the four schools that came along including: Rototuna Junior College, Albany Junior College, Howick College as well as MHJC.
Each group was given a topic such as advertisements, social media and cyberbullying. Each group then prepared presentations of facts on the topic, their opinion on it and how to solve a problem within that subject. They also all prepared skits that everyone performed at the end. Overall the day provided our learners with experience on how to cooperate and work collaboratively with people with different ideas, backgrounds and from learning environments different than their own.
