Ormiston Junior College —

Talofa Lava. O lo’u igoa o Jane Chi Tar. I come to OJC with my eyes wide open and my cup half full. I am Samoan Chinese. I am born and raised in South Auckland.

I started my teaching journey 14 years ago when I graduated from the Faculty of Education, with a Bachelor of Health & Physical Education, then went straight into teaching at Tangaroa College as a beginning teacher. Moved to Tuakau College as Head of Heath for 4 years. Within that time, I had my two children Jazz Samala’ulu and Jayah Sifahemotu. The last 7 years I have been teaching at my old stomping ground McAuley High - a decile 1, Catholic school for girls, where I have been blessed to have been apart of numerous middle leadership roles that have furthered my teaching experience which brings me on my va’a to OJC!

I am excited about sharing my skills and experiences with the students here and be able to continue to foster, develop and strengthen relationships, improve overall wellbeing and a genuine passion to engage all the students I am in front of.

My biggest excitement, is working with new colleagues and being able to mentor our new provisionally certificated teachers at the beginning of their careers.

‘ia i o se alofa mo le aoaoina e sili ona taua’ - having a love for learning is most important.
