Mairi Ogilvie | Learning Coach

Ormiston Junior College —

Kia ora everyone,

My name is Mairi and I was born in South Africa, grew up in Scotland where all my family are from and moved to New Zealand with my family in 2000.
My background is in primary school teaching and I started my career at Meadowbank Primary School in 2008. I was then lucky enough to work at an IB International School in Abu Dhabi, UAE with my husband (also a primary school teacher) for 4 years.

We got to travel and visit so many amazing places as well as meet lots of inspiring people. It was there that I became immersed in the world of libraries and completed my Masters in Education (Teacher Librarianship).
On our return home to NZ in 2016, I joined National Library Services to Schools as a facilitator where I worked with many schools (including OJC!) to set up libraries and promote their important role within a school.

One of the best parts of my role is developing the library at OJC and supporting the students to develop their knowledge and understanding the role of resources in their learning.

My children are my everything, Thomas who is almost 4 and Isobel who is 16 months. They keep me busy and put a smile on my face with their cheekiness.
