Something Out of the Ordinary

Konrad Hanson —

Last night, a dozen choir members headed to the town hall for a great night of music. Instead of our usual Thursday night choir rehearsals, we thought we should give our voices a rest and let someone else do the work for once.

New Zealand tenor, Simon O'Neill was in town with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, so it was a chance for the boys to seize the opportunity to hear a world class tenor in the flesh.

The repertoire consisted of O'Neill singing Wagner, followed by the NZSO performing Bruckner's Fourth Symphony. It was a new experience for many of the boys, and music that is not usually found on their Spotify playlists.

It was a great experience, and the boys perfectly adapted to the orchestral concert etiquette. But, for now, the rest is over and the boys will be back at work preparing for an upcoming performance as part of the OBHS/OGHS combined choir.
