A Message From The Rector

Richard Hall —

The term has drawn to a close. Despite the weather today I am thrilled with the way the first academic term of 2017 has gone.

Certainly the range of opportunites that our boys have taken on has been heartening, while young men often get it wrong, certainly from what I see every day we have a fine group of active and humourous men who work hard to uphold the values of the school and of their families.

This mornings ANZAC service was fantastic. Our students responded magnificently to the challege and I was humbled by the manner in which they conducted themselves. The commemorative readings were delivered by two Year 9 students, Boudewijn Keenan and Bodhi Middleditch. They both impressed and I received a number of favourable comments from our visitors.

As your family takes time together this holiday please remember to take some time with your son to reassess his goals from the start of the year. It is important, if he is a senior, for you to discuss his 'Credits to Date' printout given at the end of the day. He will also need some time to regenerate himself through physical activity and sleep.  Flu season has just begun here, so it is good timing that we are having a break.

Lastly a big thank you to the OBHS community who last weekend contributed to two fundraising events - the golf day and the fair. A significant and needed amount of money was raised and our boys will be able to see the direct benefit of that support next term. As a school leader I do appreciate the willingness of our community to get behind our school.
