Water Polo Update

Pru Casey —

The junior water polo team played in a small league of school teams on Monday at Moana Pool and will compete at the Junior Water Polo South Island Championships in Christchurch this coming weekend.

Our players faced A grade teams for the first time and played with a larger sized ball,  it was a step up for most players. A lot of time has been put into training and fitness and this was evident as the team developed their strategic play throughout the day.

Despite having no subs, our maths boys were sitting their Level One NCEA exam, they still had the energy to play a full game at the end of the day. The team are ready to take on other South Island schools this weekend and we are grateful to Michael Gray, OBHS Hostel Master, who volunteered to coach the lads at the Otago Champs and to Riard Fitzgerald, Jenny Alloo, and Patrick Chambers who will accompany the team to Christchurch.

We look forward to tucking into Kate Savages home cooking - as she has kindly cooked up a storm and provided us with lasagnas and apple crumbles to take away. Without the support of volunteer teachers, university students and parents, our lads would not get these fabulous opportunities to compete at a South Island level.
