Every July the Shanghai People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the Shanghai Youth Federation sponsor an International Youth Interactive Friendship Camp.

Year 12 student Louis Harris along with a group of young people from over twenty countries are currently attending the camp giving them the chance to experience Chinese culture as well as interact with people from other nationalities and ethnicities.

The camp includes a homestay with a local volunteer family, which provides exposure to the customs of the Shanghainese.

Louis is one of only four students from New Zealand selected to attend.
