Students Represent Otago at Touch Tournament

OBHS —

Last weekend two OBHS students represented Otago at the New Zealand Championships held in Auckland.

Jordan Hand represented the Otago Open Mixed Touch team. Jordan played 9 games, including the televised final, conducting himself with distinction. The growth in his game and exceptional skill set put him strongly in the selection frame for the upcoming Youth World Cup in Kuala Lumpa. He scored and created a number of excellent touchdowns for the team and developed his awareness of game situations and defensive capabilities. His coach was thrilled to have a developing star like Jordan in the Otago system. He fitted in with the older, more experienced players very well and added to the team culture.

Olly Bugden is a member of the Otago Under 21 mixed team and is a hilarious team man, much loved by team mates for his comedic timing and delivery. This year Olly showed an exceptional work ethic and his coach was particularly impressed with Olly's ability to play with all attacking combinations. As a key member of the Otago Under 21 Mixed team Olly has helped six of the team of thirteen to be recognised with Youth World Cup Trials.
