Lest We Forget

OBHS —

On Thursday morning we remembered the sacrifice and efforts of our old boys in World War 1.

Our assembly focus was not just sacrifice.  New Zealand's first action in World War 1 was the occupation of German Samoa on behalf of the British Empire forces.  This act neutralised German radio communications in the Pacific and was carried out by 16 old boys of this school.

Readings were delivered by Hunter Kindley, Captain Karl Maddaford Adjutant, 2/4 RNZIR and Bodhi Middleditch. Boudewijn Keenan read his prize winning ANZAC poem as a significant part of the ceremony.
