McIndoe House Term 1 Round-Up

Elaine Kelly —

This term McIndoe house has started strong in the house competitions, winning the Athletics. We look forward to the upcoming cross country competition at the start of Term 1 and we are already practicing for the Haka competition in Week 8 of Term 2.

In house assembly today we finished off the term by again reflecting on our heroes. Sunia Uele inspired us with a lovely, heartfelt speech about his mother. You can read his words below.

There have been a number of heroes in McIndoe house this term. Some stepping up to give outstanding performances in sport, others showing great social conscience by fundraising for "Shave for a Cure". We are rightly proud of all of these boys and what they have contributed to the school and wider community of New Zealand.

Sunia Uele's Speech

My hero may not be a wonder woman but she's always there when I need her. This hero is my beautiful mother. My mum is my teacher, my guide, my mentor, my role model. Ever since I was in nappies, she would teach me to become a good person, and to this day, she continues to fully support me in all the things I do.

Although she lives in Auckland due to her studies, she still makes it a priority to visit us once a month. This sacrifice she has made for me so that I can have a better future. This is more than I could ever ask for. I am very grateful to have her in my life and hope to make her proud one day.
