A Message From The Rector

RIchard Hall —

As the weather warms and the daylight becomes longer, we naturally start to think of the end of term; that would be a mistake as it is still a month away.

Instead the warmer weather should be taken as the opportunity to renew our energy and dust off our goals as we look towards finishing the term as strongly as we can.

Winter tournament week begins this weekend. For those boys competing this is a further opportunity to represent their school. It is also the time in which they will be able to show the values of the school: respect, honour, courage, and perseverance, leading to excellence. It is through our actions, rather than our words, that these values come to life.

Academically seniors should be looking closely at the upcoming practice examinations scheduled for the end of this term. Every year there are a dozen young men who rely on these results as derived grades for the NCEA examinations in November. So, the option of not studying, or worse, 'let's see what I don't know' followed closely by ‘they won't count for anything’ is a false economy.

As a school we are tracking well. Student achievement across a range of disciplines is rising and this newsletter is another example of how well our boys do achieve.
