The Future Environment of Dunedin Presentations

Curriculum Enrichment Week Projects Presented

Mark Hooper —

On Thursday this week our Year 9s and 10s presented themselves to the community with presentations based on Curriculum Enrichment Week in July.

Our boys have been working on a series of projects to provide solutions for the "Future Environment of Dunedin" - this was the global idea for the project. From this the boys asked, investigated and researched solutions into specific areas of concern for the city.

In particular the projects the boys have focussed on have been:

  • Erosion at Dunedin's beaches
  • Architectural Art around the city
  • Dunedin's future transport needs
  • Dunedin's green areas
  • Deforestation around the city
  • Impacts on the city of future climate change
  • Air pollution in around the CBD
  • Recycling in the city
  • Dunedin Eco-housing
  • Dunedin's future power needs
  • Sea level rise and the impact on Dunedin

The following photos show the extent and effort to which the boys put into their ideas.

Mayor Dave Cull spent over an hour with the boys talking, asking questions and sharing ideas on a topic which he is clearly passionate about.
