My name is Harry Brenssell and I’m a Gateway student at Otago Boys’ High School.

I am currently placed at Car Connection in Kaikorai Valley and work one day a week from 8 o’clock until 5 o’clock on a Friday. This program has been a major success as I was also placed there last year and have fitted in with the employees very well. 

Last year, I completed level two MITO standards. Otago Boys’ High is the only school in Dunedin to have had everyone pass all standards. I am now focusing on completing level three MITO standards. 

The Gateway program has allowed me to learn a massive amount about car mechanics. Not only does the program help me learn about mechanics but it allows me to complete internal standards in class for NCEA credits. I am extremely privileged to have been given this opportunity by the school, and by my Gateway employers at Car Connection.
