Meridian South Island Rowing Championships

Rachel Ozanne —

What a great regatta!

With a field of 1406 competitors from across the South Island, the OBHS rowers did incredibly well to get into 16 'A' finals and three 'B' finals, with some outstanding results.

Silver – U16 coxed quad sculls: Levi Heffernan, Jack Scott, Roland Ozanne, Harrison Thode and Dylan Young (cox).

Bronze – U15 coxed octuple sculls: Toby McClean, George Tisdall, Jack West, Liko Edwards, Victor Edwards, Leo Burgess, Munro Stuart, Sam Holborrow and Noah Clarke (cox).

Bronze – U17 coxed quad sculls: Levi Heffernan, Ryan Egan, Archie Chittock, Charlie Tisdall and George Anderson (cox).

Special mention must also go to those who were so close to winning a medal: the U17 double sculls (Levi Heffernan and Roland Ozanne), U16 coxed quad sculls (Eddie Burgess, Henry Lucas, Nick Thom, Judd Flannery and George Anderson - cox), the U17 single sculls (Harrison Thode), the novice coxed eight (Andre Adams, Tim Sinnott, Tom Dunn, Archie Colquhoun, Harry McGuigan, Felix Frew, Zach Hall, Harvey Brown and Angus Perkins - cox).

It was an outstanding weekend. All the boys did OBHS proud with their attitude on and off the water. We are now ramping up to the end of the season with some major regattas ahead of us. Next up is the Secondary Schools South Island regatta held between 10-12 March.
