OBHS to attend the world’s largest touch rugby tournament

Vai Mahutariki —

The world’s largest touch rugby tournament is being held in October this year, with over 450 teams representing various top schools both nationally and internationally, and OBHS is one of them.

The All Schools Touch tournament is about to take place and our 1st Touch team is training hard and fundraising flat out to get themselves to this amazing event.

It is a seeded round robin-based competition where teams are placed in pools of 6-8 teams depending on the size of the division, which provides school teams with a minimum of 7 games.

Across the 5-day tournament, over 6,000 students will take to the field playing over 1,700 games across 23 fields, attracting between 6,000 and 10,000 spectators. This is a massive event.

Thanks to everyone who has supported us in the lead up to heading over the ditch. From helping with fundraising, taking kids to practices and spectating over the seasons which has led to this cool group of lads being able to head over the ditch to play the sport they love. We are thankful for our parent steering committee who have put in a power of work for this team and getting them to this point.

Up the Hoops!
