The Education Perfect World Series is an annual series of online competitions where students earn points across several subject areas including Languages.
Students can earn points and certificates in each individual event. All events contribute towards school and student totals for the overall World Series. There are 6 levels of award ranging from the lowest Credit Award through Bronze, Silver, Gold, Emerald to the Elite award, this being the highest honour. I am happy to announce that two OBHS boys have won Emerald Awards in French and that Otago Boys' has finished in the top 15% of New Zealand schools in this subject area.
Luke Geddes has been learning French since Year 9 at Otago Boys' and his constant dedication to his studies combined with a natural gift for decoding the language and grammar has led him to have much success.
Talk Zhou is an International student who joined us in July 2019. Talk always had a passion for French but his formal studies gave way to other subject areas. Talk has continued to work independently on his French, showing great commitment to advancing his knowledge.
Both boys are to be commended for their efforts, starting to work towards these awards during the lockdown. It is fitting that Honour is one of our focus values for this term and Luke and Talk have certainly lived up to what this means in Languages.
