Year 10 Design and Visual Communication visit to Firebrand

Design in a Real Life Context

Stefan Reussenzehn —

Year 10 Design and Visual Communication students have to create a presentation for their recreation area design. So, why not get some expert advice from someone whose business it is to make things look great!

The local company Firebrand kindly offered to show our students what they do and gave useful tips and hints for a professional looking poster layout. Creative Director, Katy Miller, gave the students some first hand insights into design strategies for branding and marketing based on examples from their local clients.

Alex Murray joined the session and shared his experiences as Web Manager. The boys could relate particularly well to Alex's story, as he is an old boy of the school. His favourite subjects at school were Graphics and Computing and he is still using those skills to create projects for his clients.

The students appreciated the real life context and thanked Katy and Alex for their time and support. Some of the tips and hints will hopefully flow into their own presentations.
