Australian Maths Competition

RIchard Sykes —

The results are in, and our students are on top.

Junior students recently sat the Australian Maths Competition. Six of the boys gained Distinction which puts them in the top 20% in the country.

First run in 1978, the Australian Mathematics Competition is Australia's longest running, largest and most well-known maths competition for school students. It is now a truly international competition with participants from all over the world.

This year we had 27 entrants with a range of results from Participation to High Distinction. This capped off a very successful year for Zakariya Rizwan, Lachie Thompson, Henry Hodgson and Sam Goodchild who gained top awards in all the competitions we participated in. Thanks to all the students who put themselves out there and had a go throughout the year.

Henry Hodgson gained a High Distinction, which placed him in the top 3% in the country. He was actually top 1%! Sam Goodchild narrowly missed out on High Distinction, finishing in the top 5%.

Congratulations to everyone involved.
