Congratulations Ben!

Pru Casey —

Ben Burrows of Year 11 has won a place on the Sir Peter Bake Trust Young Environmental Leadership Forum.

Ben will travel to Waikato and Rotorua in April and spend a week in conference with over 100 young New Zealanders working together to make a difference.

This week-long development camp is to develop leadership skills for students who want to make a difference. This fully funded programme will allow students to learn more about the environmental issues related to climate change, our oceans, freshwater and biodiversity.

Ben will gain mentorships to help develop leadership skills while participating in outdoor activities. He will meet and engage with inspiring and informative speakers, including experts from the Ministry for the Environment, Sir Peter Blake Trust alumni, local and national politicians, business and community leaders, and like-minded peers, and as a delegate to YELF Ben is eligible to join future Young Blake Expeditions as a student voyager.

Ben is leading the Town Belt Kaitiaki program here at Otago Boys' and it is appropriate that he and his colleagues are able to participate in training such as this.

Well done Ben and good luck!
