The school was saddened this week to learn of the passing of Paul Inder.

Paul was a teacher at OBHS from 1960 until 1987. A versatile man, Paul taught English, History, Commercial Practice and Economics during his years at OBHS. Paul was respected as a knowledgeable and enthusiastic teacher. He had a great love of language and was often heard quoting his favourite poets.

In the mid 1970s, Paul took on the role of Careers Advisor. In this position he developed transition education programmes that enabled boys to take part in work experience.

One of Paul’s major contributions to OBHS was as manager of Campbell House (the school hostel) from 1963 until 1969. To this role he brought a genuinely kind and caring management style. His aim was to make boys' experience of hostel life the best that it could be.

Paul also had a great love of sport, especially rugby. For many years, in addition to his teaching, Paul was in charge of the school rugby club. Finding coaches, organising gear, practice grounds and the buses to get teams there, was almost a full time job in itself. Yet Paul was always cheerful and uncomplaining.

A quiet, gentle man, for whom the needs of others always took priority, Paul will be missed by those who knew him. We offer our sincere condolences to his family.
