Summer holidays are looming and it's a great time for students, and their families, to get off the screens and get stuck into a good book.

OB's students are able to get books out over the holidays, so please encourage your son to do so. He can get a book for you too! There is a lot of good research about how students loose valuable literacy gains they have made during the year when they hit the holidays - the 'summer slide'. It's important that they keep developing their reading skills and vocabulary. 

There are so many good books in our library to choose from, there is a book for everyone. I'm happy to help if they are not sure what to get.

Best of all, no fines and the whole holiday to finish them!
