Amped!

Ryan Kenton —

Over the past few weekends, I have been attending the Amped music project run by the Fringe festival.

The Amped music project focuses on the development and promotion of high school musicians. Every Saturday afternoon over the past few weeks we’ve had industry insiders and other artists come and talk to us about everything from touring, recording, releasing music, the process of booking a gig, sound and stage set up, and so much more.

Following these Saturday afternoon workshops every Sunday there have been gigs set up to give us more experience performing and working in a live setting and venue. This Sunday at Dive, neils beach (my band) has had a gig set up to help us practice and warm-up for further performances we have lined up over the next couple of weeks. We have been given roughly a 20-minute slot to perform for anyone wanting to come and watch.

The tickets for all the Amped shows are free/koha as we are just looking for an audience!

The Amped music project has been a huge help. There has been a massive amount of knowledge and experience passed on that will stay with us for the rest of our musical lives.
