Over the holidays, OBHS students Taka Sugiyama and Danny Gilbert attended the New Zealand Secondary Schools Swimming Championships held in Auckland.

With over 750 swimmers competing over four days, it was the biggest National meet of the year.

Both boys competed well, with Taka placing 12th in the 50m freestyle and 15th in the butterfly, breaststroke and medley.

Danny swum personal bests in both butterfly races, gaining 4th place in the 100m and a bronze medal in the 200m butterfly event as well as gaining a top 10 finish in his freestyle event.
