This Week In The Library

Lynn Vare —

It's been a busy week in the library with Year 9 & 10 Social Studies classes.

Students are researching a variety of topics from Human Rights, Civil Rights in the USA and dictators and tyrants from around the world. We have a great variety of information sources for them to use including books and electronic resources.

Electronic resources are accessible to the students from home and the best way for them to access these is via the library catalogue. Once they have logged in with their student number they can type in their subject and then get to One Search which is where the databases are accessed. For these projects we used Gale's Biography in Context and World History in Context. These are provided free by the Ministry of Education and are fantastic resources for research. Full-text essays, biographies, articles, audio files, images and credible websites - quality information rather than fake news and 'alternative facts'.
