Football finals

Mike McGarry —

It was a great day for the football club.

The Year 10 Blues won their final over King's High School 6-1 in a pretty dominant performance with 3 goals to Toby Orchiston, Ben Crump 2 and Cormack De La Harpe with a 25m screamer.

All the boys put in a display of controlled passing and deserved to hold onto the Junior Premier trophy.

The Year 9 Blues won the premier playoff for 3rd and 4th 2-nil over John McGlashan College. Again, the boys passed the ball around and created a number of opportunities. Ollie Devereux and Harry Townsend scored the goals.

The 1st XI held onto the Premier Trophy for a threepeat with a close 2-1 win over King's High School with Rory Hibbert scoring twice. It was a superb team effort, with the defence under huge pressure for the last 15 minutes when we conceded a goal just after scoring our second.

Two very even teams went at each other with tackles flying in, chances being created, shouts for penalties and saves pulled off by Vinnie Gable in goal.

The 2nd XI, consisting mainly of Year 11 boys beat John McGlashan College in a penalty shootout to secure 3rd place in the Premier Grade. A fantastic effort from these young men. Jono Tucker, in goal, pulled off a number of great saves in the shootout to deny John McGlashan College in a very tense finish. They played some great football and created a number of chances during the game.
