Congratulations to Year 10 student Torin Webb who last weekend competed at the National Weightlifting Championships in Auckland.

It was an outstanding achievement for Torin who is 15 to qualify for this event as the  junior division is for competitors up to 20 years of age.

At just 57.8kg Torin lifted 75kg in the Snatch event breaking the NZ Youth Under 15 record.  In the Clean and Jerk he lifted 95kg. With a total of 170kg he was awarded second place.

Torin is a member of the Otago Weightlifting Club, his team received the Best Junior Men's Team trophy at the prizegiving held at the conclusion of the weekend.
