Success For Our Senior Volleyballers

Enoka Taufua —

Last weekend our Senior Blue and Senior White Volleyball teams competed in the Secondary School Otago Regional Volleyball Tournament. This tournament is also the qualifiers for Nationals at the end of this month.

Senior Blue: Finished 1st

Our Senior Blues made it four Otago Championships in a row when they took out the final against King's High School. The team played some outstanding volleyball throughout the weekend. This was evident in the fact that they only dropped one set all weekend. Every player chipped in and played their roles, in particular Nick Sharp, Noah Rooney and Angus Henderson. They were strongly supported by Alex Boomer, Adrian Branzuela, Xavier Toeke, Peter Keenan, Cody Taylor and Jacob Whitty. With this victory, our Blues have qualified for the top 32 at Nationals. They fly away next Sunday for the week long tournament.

Senior White: Finished 3rd

Our Whites had a very strong tournament. They pushed King's High (Finalist) in a tough 4 setter and although losing to our Blues 0-3, won their remaining games to pick up the Bronze. The team was a mixture of year 12 and year 11 players. Eli Ellison, Siosifa Pole, Hopate Finau and Kilifi Uele were outstanding all weekend. They were supported by Matthew Sims, Inoke Katia, Cody Watt, Blake May, Noah Mafi and Patrick Pereira. A great result for a team who also won Bronze in Div II South Island Tournament.

A big thank you to our sponsors for their support and to all our parents and staff who showed up to watch our young men in action.
