Last night OBHS hosted and participated in the semis and final of the Dunedin Secondary Schools Debating Competition, run by the University of Otago.

Our team of Liam Connolly, Sam Hewson and Colby Allen have had an exceptional season in winning the Otago/Southland Regionals as well as completing a rare clean-sweep of their traditional interschool fixtures too.

The semi final against Columba College 2 was a good win to our boys who squared up against their season-long nemesis in the final, Columba College 1. 

In an intense and close final, the panel of five judges gave the overall title to Columba 3/2. Well done to these young men to have taken debating at OBHS to new heights in 2019. 

A special congratulations to Liam Connolly for being named one of the standout speakers of the entire competition and also to Colby Allen for being named the BEST speaker of the entire competition!
