Budding musician to move into Six60's old haunt in Dunedin as part of new scholarship

Stuff —

TJ Zimba knows how to make an entrance, using a skateboard to travel to Dunedin's most famous student address: 660 Castle St.

Zimba is one of four winners of a new scholarship borne out of a partnership between the University of Otago and former Dunedin band Six60, which was revealed as the proud new owner of the $1.7 million flat in July.

Zimba will join Samuel Leaper, Teone Hotu and Emily Kerr-Bell as flatmates in the new year after the four became the inaugural winners of the scholarship.

The deal includes a $10,000 rent rebate, mentoring from the band, and access to the university's recording studio.

All four said they were big fans of the band, with physiotherapy student Zimba describing himself as “an old Six60 fan”.

“I love their old stuff.”
