It is great to make contact with you all with around 20 weeks to go when we will be celebrating the 150th Reunion of the OBHS Hostel.

This update will be a regular feature over the next period as we keep you all informed of how the events are building towards the big weekend.

Registrations

We are processing registrations already received and will come back to some of you soon to check details and event attendance.

It is important that you complete the registration form as well as indicate what events you, and your partner if applicable, will be attending – payment is also required please. If you wish you can register in paper form, by phoning the school on 03 4775527.

Please note that registrations close on Friday 30 July, 2021 to allow time to order the merchandise and confirm the venues.

Merchandise

We are intending to offer 3 items for sale to take away from the weekend as a momento of the celebrations. These are a special badge, an engraved glass mug, and a 150th tie all designed especially for the occasion by two current hostel boys – they are quite superb. You can purchase all 3 for the special price of $60 or it is possible to buy them individually. We will have more information on these items including pictures, in the next update.

Everyone attending will also receive a booklet written by a previous hostel master, recording historical information regarding the hostel over the past 150 years.

You will see the program clearly outlined and you will note that we have kept the costs of the functions to a very reasonable level. The Saturday night get together is $25 per person, which includes food, while the Sunday night cost for a 3 course buffet meal plus entertainment is $50 per person. So please spread the word and encourage your mates to register.

Our Dearly Deceased/Wives & Partners

We hope all wives and partners will join us for this reunion. We would also like to extend an invitation out to widows of Old Boys who would like to join us at the celebrations, in particular the dinner. Old Boys who enjoyed their time at the hostel and who have passed away in recent times, may well have intended to come to the celebrations. We would encourage their surviving partners to come along to share their memories and catch up with old friends. Please feel free to register as detailed above.
