Art Students Find Inspiration At The Museum

Brigid Allan —

This week the Level One Visual Art students were exploring the Dunedin Museum to find interesting material to draw from.

All students were required to record objects, animals, patterns and cultural designs of their choice. Level One Visual Art focuses on developing students skills using a range of art making processes and techniques. The idea of this new integrated program is to give the students an opportunity to personally select objects for their subject matter.

During our time there, we took a few hours exploring the Nature gallery, the current exhibition Est 1868, which held a great amount of interest, as well as the Tangata Whenua and Pacific Culture galleries.

Many thanks to the Otago Museum educator Kate Timms-Dean for being our guide, assisted by Emily.
