Robotics

Aaron Nelson —

Having 200 boys stare at you can’t be as bad as going up on stage with a Wiggles guitar and dancing to Footloose. Both do require courage.

Robotics isn’t just about knowing how to program, it's also about persevering with issues, striving to get your robot to work and respecting others in the different ways they solve tasks.

For those who don’t know me my name is Aaron. I'm a Year 13 student and for the last 5 years I've entered into Robocup for the school.

I’m sure you have heard people say to take the opportunities when they come, and they are not wrong. For me robotics has given me a huge opportunity and I will forever be grateful. I have had trips around NZ and gained school Blues and a scholarship to Otago University. I even plan on doing Data Science next year due to my love of programming which I have found due to robotics.

Keep doing what you enjoy no matter how hard things may get because you never know what you might achieve. It means you will have to learn to persevere and therefore may gain unforeseen benefits.

So, as a thank you to the school for their support of the last 5 years, I would like to present OBHS with this spike prime kit. In conclusion, even if robotics isn’t something you're into, stick with your passions because who knows where they will lead you.
