A lot is happening in the Pasifika space at OBHS!

Here is a brief overview - more detailed information will follow in an end of term wrap up.

• Our amazing Tuma Tula'i ("raising men") program has been featured in the Otago Community Trust Annual Report. This highlights the strong links that OBHS have with our Pasifika students, their families and community.

• OBHS combined with OGHS to form the group "Tamaiti O Le Moana" and performed with passion and pride in Otago Polyfest last week. The tutors and students did an incredible job, combining the diverse cultures and nationalities represented by students at both schools. The performance was a credit to their hard work and commitment and wowed the audience.

• The second annual Moana Nui Festival, run by the Pacific Trust Otago is on this weekend at Forsyth Barr Stadium. This is a great event for families, with stalls and performances. OBHS students and parents will be participating with various community groups and performances over the day. Organised by Pacific Trust Otago, this family-friendly event is a way to escape to the Pacific while staying right here in Ōtepoti/Dunedin. Come and explore, experience, and celebrate the cultures of local Pacific communities. Enjoy Pacific performances, music, food stalls, craft stalls and more.

• On Monday, OBHS is hosting a Māori and Pasifika leadership event and cultural celebration. Enoka Taufua (previously the Pasifika Dean at OBHS) is bringing down boys from Shirley Boys' High School and joining with OBHS, OGHS, Kings' and Queens' High Schools for the event. We invite all members of the community, particularly the Pasifika community along to the celebration on Monday 26th at 6pm in the OBHS Auditorium.
