This week you may have seen an item on 1 News that highlighted an issue around drugs in sport. Because our school had hosted a workshop by Drugfree Sport New Zealand we were chosen to be on television.

COURAGE - As a skinny, naïve, 12-year-old, the word courage had probably never passed through my Grandfather’s mind. But he was about to meet it.

10T have returned from a week at the school lodge at Mount Aspiring.  Angus and Liam share their thoughts on the week.

After interviews and votes, the International Leaders were announced at a special meeting this week.

The statisticians of the school are currently working on a project looking into various variables of Dunedin's weather. Using the University of Otago's weather station data from 2016, they are using bootstrapping techniques to investigate a question of their choice. The project is due on the 10th of March - their first statistics internal of the year.

Last week saw the final Year 13 Homeostasis Biology trip to the University of Otago Physical Education Department.

The annual summer interschool between OBHS and Christ's College was held in superb conditions in Dunedin this week.

Two days of exciting and tense play saw both the First and Second XI games come down to tense finishes with the game between the two top teams on Littlebourne being extremely close.

Congratulations to Ben Reeves, George Bright and Te Ngaru Wehi who along with former OBHS student Jordon McDowall won the Under 19 section of the Dunedin leg of the  2017 Burger King 3 x 3 basketball tournament last weekend. They defeated Waitaki Boys' High School in the final to claim the title. 

On Saturday our 1st Touch team competed in the Otago Champs held at Bishopscourt. After giving King's an almighty fright in the first game, we eventually went down 8-7 in a thriller. A comfortable victory over John McGlashan meant we have qualified for the South Island Tournament to be held in Christchurch over the weekend of the 25th and 26th of March.

The Otago Boys’ High School Parents Association Annual General Meeting will be held on the 16th March, at 7.00pm, in the school library.

As you know, thousands of kids got their first smartphone at Christmas. The idea is to teach them safe camera-behaviour from the start. They are then much more likely to think twice before sharing an unsafe image.
