Otago Intercollegiate Golf Finals

Nine of the top golfers at Otago Boys’ travelled up to Roxburgh last week to take part in the annual Otago Intercollegiate Golf Finals.

After a practice round on the Thursday and a good breakfast on the Friday morning it was down to business. Most of the players struggled a bit in the blustery conditions on a tight course but in the end Otago Boys’ won the event by a comfortable 5 shots. Jed Cuthbertson played one of his best ever rounds to shoot a very creditable 67 (par 68) playing off a 7 handicap. He was well supported by Joseph Hancock (71) and Parker Aluesi (72).

It was a very good learning experience for the other members of the squad and Daniel Torr played well to win the non-handicap division. The team now plays the winners of the Southland competition to determine who qualifies for the National Finals in Palmerston North in September.
