OBHS won!

OBHS 1 (Luke Geddes, Michael Crosson, Boudewijn Keenan) won the Otago Southland Regionals (2nd OBHS victory in the past 3 years) against Bayfield 1 - the top seeded team.

Their path to victory included a first round loss (to the eventual runner's up) and then 7 straight wins. The motion in the final debate was, "That this house would not require professionals to provide services in instances where they object on religious grounds." And arguing for the affirmative, victory came from a secure, well measured team performance and slam dunk leader's reply from Luke.

In other team results, OBHS 2 (Joshua Brunt, Matthew Visser, Bruce Zhang) and OBHS 3 (Matthew Bolter, Jordan Hannon, Billy Gilchrist) both finished with 2 wins and 4 losses.

  Individual results:

  • Luke has made the reserves for the team for Nationals in May.
  • Michael was awarded Best (delivery) Style over the weekend.
  • Luke, Michael and Boudewijn all made the Otago Gold Squad.
  • Matthew and Jordan made the Development Squad.
