Junior curriculum week has created the opportunity for a range of students to get excited about their visual world. The Art room has been a hive of activity all week as a variety of groups grapple with their self-directed design problems and how to visually demonstrate their ideas. Two of these groups decided to explore the Dunedin ‘street art scene’ for inspiration.

 Biz4Taiohi - Inspiring Māori Student Futures

On Wednesday 6th July, four Year 12 &13 students Dan Ryan, Ricky Jackson, Mitchell Mahoni-Rae and Isi Tuivaga were lucky enough to be invited by the Otago University Maori Studies Department in conjunction with the Otago University Business School to take part in the annual ‘Biz4Taiohi’ course which is focussed at Maori students.

Yesterday Deputy Head Boy Sam  Kilsby visited Fairfield School to talk to their School Council as a representative of the Sir Peter Blake Trust. Sam talked about being a leader and what leadership means, a subject Sam is well qualified to talk about.

Another Sweet Example of Community Service


On Saturday morning a group of Otago Boys' students and administration staff spent a couple of hours labelling 25,000 jaffas for the (Make A Wish NZ) Baldwin Street Jaffa Race being held in the school holidays. Another superb example of our boys engaging in community service.

Pan Pacific Water Polo


There are a number of OBHS students representing Otago Water Polo at the Pan Pacific Water Polo tournament which is taking place in Auckland over the school holidays. This is the largest water polo tournament in the southern hemisphere and is played every two years with teams from New Zealand, Australia, the United States and South Africa participating this year.

Appointment Reminder


As much as possible, could boys and parents please make all medical, (off site) physio, dentist and driving lesson appointments for students out of school time. These one off, but sometimes frequent absences during the year can have a considerable impact on student learning. Your support is appreciated.
