We are back in the pool!

2025 has kicked off with a splash for the Otago Boys’ High School Physical Education department, thanks to the long-awaited reopening of the school pool.

With a brand-new roof, upgraded seating, a resurfaced pool, and accessible changing rooms, the facility is better than ever.

Students wasted no time diving in. Year 13 Physical Education students are already using the pool for swim training as they prepare for their upcoming triathlon. Meanwhile, Senior Outdoor Education classes have been sharpening their water skills in preparation for their surfing assessment. With access to high-quality training, our senior athletes are in top form.

Junior students will also be making full use of the pool, focusing on water safety and swim proficiency - an essential skill, especially with the upcoming Year 10 camps to Mount Aspiring, where outdoor water activities are a key component.

The Physical Education department extends its sincere gratitude to everyone involved in bringing this project to completion. The investment in our facilities doesn’t stop here—our next major project is about to get underway, with a new gym floor and basketball hoops set to enhance our sports facilities even further.

At Otago Boys’ High School, we are committed to providing students with top-tier facilities to support their physical education, training, and overall wellbeing. Here’s to an exciting year ahead!
