The new term has begun with the usual "hiss and roar", the latter seen in the volume produced at the annual House Haka Competition held on Wednesday. Well done McIndoe for their narrow but deserved victory. Congratulations to all the boys for their energy and effort.

They asked me to write a speech. I ended up writing about 12, but none really grasped the point I wanted to get across.

At assembly this week, our 2018 Term One Students of the Term were announced. This award recognises one young man in each year level who has lived our school values: Respect, Perseverance, Honour, Courage and Excellence. He is a student who has shown through his actions these values, not just his potential. This award, we hope, will inspire all our students.

It was a case of nearly but not quite for the 14 boys who set off to conquer the Kepler Track last Saturday. We eventually made it to two of the three overnight stops but unfortunately, a track closure due to large volumes of snow and avalanche conditions meant we were unable to complete the Luxmore to Iris Burn section of the track.

I am fortunate enough to be placed at Car Connection for my Gateway placement this year.

The middle weekend of the April holidays was a busy time for the Otago Boys’ orienteering team.

Our Pasifika homework club started this week.

This year’s combined production with OGHS is the musical Strictly Ballroom. Based on the popular Baz Luhrmann film, it is a story about following your heart and holding on to your dreams.

The longstanding winter interschool fixture between Otago Boys' High School and King's High School will be held on Tuesday 15 May.

Once again we are making our famous cheese rolls to fund raise for a new travel curtain for the stage in our Auditorium.
