Today sees us at the end of week 4 of Term 1 and here at OBHS things are in full swing.

Tell us about the activities and successes your son has been involved in so that as a community we can celebrate with them.

This week senior assembly focused on the awarding of academic blues to Scholarship recipients and students who gained NCEA excellence endorsement in 2015.

Congratulations to our boys, teachers and parents for a magnificent set of results with certificate endorsements. For the first time since NCEA endorsements began in 2007, at least 50% of our boys in each year level have achieved a Merit or Excellence endorsement.

The redevelopment of our Tennis Court area on Stuart Street was offically opened for use on Thursday at 1.00pm.

On Friday evening 10S returned from a week at Mount Aspiring.

OBHS young scientists at work at this weeks biology visit to Blueskin Bay with Ms Casey and Mr Twaites. Exploring zonation patterns and animal adaptations.

On Wednesday the Year 11 economics classes visited Cadbury World on a fact finding mission for their first Internal Achievement Standard of the year - ‘Demonstrate understanding of decisions a producer makes about production’.

Struan Campbell and Niwa Kapa-Brooking (both Year 10) competed at the South Island Junior Surf Life Saving Championships last weekend.  

This week we hosted Waitaki Boys' High School in the second summer interschool fixture of the year.

Year 12 student Liam Turner has been selected in the 20 strong New Zealand Athletic Team to compete in the Oceania Regional Games to be held in Papeete, Tahiti in April. Liam will compete in the 400m, 800m and the 4 x 400m relay.  Congratulations Liam on this awesome achievement! 

Congratulations to Cameron Porteous, Oliver Bugden and Jordan Hand.

Two even bowling teams squared off on a fast and hard Littlebourne track for the second home game of the year. In the end, the batting depth of the home team proved to be the difference between the two sides.

Congratulations to Year 9 batsman Cameron Elliott who made an unbeaten century last Saturday. Cameron made 101 not out, Elliott Alloo 49 not out and Ben Williams-Davies 33 to help their team make 246/4. In reply Kaikorai Valley College were all out for 28 - top wicket takers Issac Pratley 5/14 and Eli Ellison 3/4.

Our annual fees day will be held on Wednesday 23 March. School fee invoices and a payment envelope were sent home at the beginning of March.
