During ESOL class we farewelled three team members: Jorawar Singh, Cyrus Leung and Saran Chanyanuparp.

Kimberley and Jess, the main organisers of the Competenz competition, flew down from Auckland on Thursday to present the Competenz Toolbox Challenge prizes to our students.

This morning our top junior orators walked with their classmates down to our friends at Otago Girls' High School to defend the Tennyson Shield.

At the Otago Regional Junior Speech Competition held this morning at the King's and Queen's Performing Arts Centre, eight schools competed for the cup. Bailey Cavanagh-Welch made us proud by delivering an uplifting and engaging speech about opportunity. He received the highest score but was unfortunately penalised for going over the four minute time limit.

Congratulations to our Year 9A team who beat Southland Boys' High School on Tuesday to qualify for the Otago Southland final of the NZCT Junior Boys' competition.

The 2016 OBHS Junior Tennis Championship was played in perfect conditions this week. Ayoub Ahmad won the Junior Singles competition and paired with Angus Faulks also won the Doubles title. Congratulations to all boys who participated.

Students returning to school in 2017 are welcome to take out books from the library for the summer holidays. Please see Ms Vare to arrange this.  Why not also get something out for your family to enjoy reading as well!! Books will need to be returned on the first day back at school in 2017.

The OBHS Rugby Club is seeking enthusiastic coaches and managers for the 2017 season. The rugby season for secondary school teams runs all of Term Two and finishes mid-August in Term Three. 

The Parents Association will be holding a uniform sale on Wednesday 25 January from 10am - 1pm and 5pm - 7pm.
