Welcome to the first School House news for 2020. We have had an excellent start to the year with the Year 9 boys starting extremely well. As always, we had a few tears from both boys and mothers at the conclusion of the parents dinner, when parents leave their boys at the hostel for the first time. Shortly after, the boys were in high spirits playing games with the Year 13’s.

We are looking for members of our school community who would be available to help with the school fair which is being held on Saturday 4 April.

One of the big events at the Fair will be our Silent Auction.

Okinawa is the birth place of all Karate. Over the years, various styles and focuses have evolved but the styles in Okinawa remain true to the essence of what Karate is. The Karate class at OBHS is designed to introduce traditional Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate to students which is so much more than self-defence!

The Māori Education Trust 2020 Scholarship Programme is open and offers scholarships to Māori secondary school and tertiary students who meet the respective scholarship’s criteria.

The Otago Peninsula Community Board (OPCB) offers two scholarships per year to the value of $300 each to assist secondary school aged pupils who live on the Otago Peninsula to participate in leadership opportunities.

The International Department is seeking new homestay providers for international students.

Outward Bound New Zealand is a not for profit organisation offering personal development courses in the outdoors for New Zealanders young and old.

The storage container to hold goods donated for the school fair has arrived and we are filling it up.
