Culture is an important part of any organisation; in my opinion the culture of this organisation is the key driver for success. This week we have seen the best and worst of our culture. On Tuesday we hosted our first interschool. And while the result is very important, so is the idea that our culture was also on display.

Ngā Manu Kōrero

Te Ngaru Wehi and Taina Te Ngahue competed at the Ngā Manu Kōrero speech competition at the weekend. Te Ngaru was awarded the Te Reo Māori impromptu speech trophy but was pipped by two points for the overall award and the trip to nationals. Taina performed in the English section and while he did not receive an award both his impromptu and prepared speeches were both well received by the audience.

Year 12 student Thomas Grant has been selected to be an Assistant Referee this weekend. This will be his first role in a men's premier fixture. He will take to the lines on Saturday in the match between Southern and Harbour at Bathgate Park. We wish him all the best.

Cross Country Record Smashed

Nathan Hill (Year12) has smashed the school cross country record in a time of 7 minutes 48 seconds. He has significantly eclipsed the record (8 minutes 01 seconds) previously held by Bevan Stevens class of 2003.
