Capability Funding - Closing End of September

Otago Community Trust —

Reminder: Otago Community Trust has two capability funds closing at the end of the month. Our Social Service capability funding is available to social service agencies and our new Tamariki & Rangatahi Sector capability funding is available to not-for-profit organisations who provide services for the benefit of tamariki and rangatahi.

As a community funder, we believe it is important to help strengthen organisations so they can better make a difference in their communities. Our capability funding is aimed at developing organisations, building skills and abilities (both at management and/or governance level), supporting the development of business planning which supports long term sustainability and supporting the development of collaborative partnerships which contribute to financial sustainability and innovation.

Examples of Capability Building Projects

  • Developing systems or processes that improve the governance and/or operational effectiveness of an organisation;
  • Developing and using decision making tools such as strategic plans, feasibility studies, evaluation frameworks, communications or marketing / promotional plans;
  • Increasing an organisation’s impact in its community, strategy development and/or to deepen/strengthening relationships;
  • Building strategic partnerships with other organisations;
  • Professional development and training for management, staff, governance groups and volunteers including succession planning;
  • Quality improvement such as examining organisational policies and practices.

Tamariki & Rangatahi Sector Capability Fund

The Tamariki & Rangatahi Sector Capability Fund is a part of the Otago Community Trust’s funding suite to support our Tamariki and Rangatahi Strategy.

The Tamariki & Rangatahi Sector Capability fund is designed to strengthen the tamariki and rangatahi (children and young people) sector to allow organisations to grow and succeed.

Not-for-profit organisations can apply for up to $10,000 for projects that develop organisational capability.

Larger amounts may be considered if the project has potential for signifcant and wide-reaching impact, is a collaboration of several youth organisations and will impact a large number of staff/volunteers.

Fund Closes - 30th September 2022, with outcomes announced late October 2022.

Our Community Engagement Advisor, Liz Harburg caught up with Jeff Harford, Community Liaison at OAR FM Dunedin - Community Access Media to talk a little more about the Trust's new Youth Sector Capability Fund.
