Grant Rounds - April and May 2020

Otago Community Trust —

Below is a quick summary of our recent grant approvals over the last two months.

April Grants Summary

Otago Community Trust approved grants of just over $525,000 in support of a wide range of community projects in its April funding round. Social service agencies not currently receiving multi-year funding, were awarded annual grants to support the essential services they continue to provide across Otago.

Aroha Ki Te Tamariki received a $65,000 grant which will assist with the cost of delivering counselling services to children, young people, and their whanau in Otago.

Other organisations benefiting from grants in April included the Skeggs Foundation who were awarded $14,400 to support the first round of coaches and officials funding. Wanaka Tennis Club Inc was awarded a $30,000 grant to support court resurfacing and an upgrade of lighting at the club.

The Otago Community Trust gave a total of $525,600 to 16 community organisations in April 2020.

May Grants Summary

The Trust awarded a total of $76,910 to 12 community organisations in its May board meeting. 

Friends of the Forrester Gallery Society Inc was the largest beneficiary receiving a $25,000 grant. This will assist the gallery with the cost of purchasing and installing a purpose-built art storage system.

NZ Mountain Film Festival Charitable Trust received a $4,010 grant to support the 18th NZ Mountain Film & Book Festival. Otago Community Trust is one of the many funders that supports this great festival.

Progress of Waikouaiti Area received a $5,000 grant to assist with the cost of the production and distribution of the area's monthly newsletter.
