Grants Round - May & June 2021

Below is a quick summary of our recent grant approvals for May and June 2021.

May Grants Summary

Otago Community Trust gave a total of $622,980 to 24 community organisations in May 2021.

The Broad Bay Boating Club is set for a revamp as plans to rejuvenate the ageing facilities and create a more functional and multipurpose community space are gathering momentum. A $150,000 grant from Otago Community Trust will assist with this project.

Te Kura O Take Kārara in Wanaka were awarded a $20,000 grant to support the development of a new school pump track; Dunedin’s iconic iD Fashion received a $25,000 boost to assist with the cost of holding the iD Dunedin Fashion Gala in June. 

Regular annual grants to the Skeggs Foundation ($21,100), Otago Medical Research Foundation ($80,000) and the Outward Bound Trust of New Zealand ($120,000) were also approved to support the valuable work they do for the communities and people of Otago.

June Grants Summry 

Otago Community Trust’s June grants round saw the Trust approve its regular annual grants to the regional sporting bodies in the sport and recreation sector. Over $1 million was approved to 30 regional sporting bodies who are seeking to introduce and / or maintain programmes which encourage participation and development of their sport in Otago.

Other community grants were also approved in the June meeting. Mornington Bowling Club Inc received a $40,000 grant to assist with the renewal of the bowling green synthetic surface. He Waka Kotuia Trust received a $20,000 grant to provide support with hosting ‘Te Hautoka’ - Otago-Southland Regional Secondary Kapa Haka Competition.

Clutha Rugby Football Club Inc received a $7,407 grant which will assist with the cost of the purchase and installation of field lights on the Clutha Rugby Football grounds.
